Van registrations continued to increase in June, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reveals.

In what was, once again, a good month for the industry, van registrations continued to soar showing an increase of 5.1 per cent to 20,139 from May.

Registrations were also up 10.7 per cent to 107,336 in the first six months of 2010, indicating promising signs of economic recovery.

“Van registrations are moving forward with another month of positive growth" says SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt.

However despite these improvements, Everitt has again warned that the remainder of the year could be challenging for the industry and states that road transport operators need to ‘get easier access to cash to help them invest in new vehicles.’

Ford, no doubt influenced by the ever-popular Transit range, were once again the best selling van manufacturer of the month, with Vauxhall, Citroen, Renault and Peugeot all making the top ten.
