Renault was one of the manufacturers to exhibit its greenest vehicles at The Prince of Wales’ Start Eco Car Spectacular on The Mall, London on Sunday.

Renault’s charge into the zero-emission electric vehicle arena commences in mid-2011 with the Kangoo Z.E van which, along with the Ford Transit Connect Electric, will be one of the first affordable all-electric commercial vehicles in the UK.

The Start Eco Car Spectacular was a key event in the 12-day ‘A Garden Party to Make a Difference’ festival created by The Prince of Wales, and featured special guest drivers including Sir Stirling Moss parading low-carbon vehicles down the Mall.

Proudly waving the flag for Renault on the day was Dame Ellen McArthur, a long-time partner of the French firm and the founder of the Ellen McArthur foundation, which is striving for a sustainable future.

The Renault Kangoo Z.E van will qualify for the government’s Plug-In Car Grant when it is released next year, which will see the list price slashed by up to £5,000. Pre-booking for the Kangoo Z.E is already underway, though exact prices are yet to be confirmed.
