Renault and Ford 'on target' for emissions

Renault and Ford are close to achieving 2016 CO2 targets for van emissions, a report by the Transport and Environment (T&E) group claims.
The report claims the new Renault Master van boasts emissions of 187g/km – a 15 per cent reduction from the 2007 version of the van.
Similarly, the Ford Transit ECOnetic delivers an 11 per cent reduction in emissions from the 2007 Ford Transit, according to statistics from JATO.
T&E claims the number of vans on Europe’s roads increased by about 50 per cent between 1997 and 2007, while CO2 emissions of new LCVs increased from 201 to 203g/km in the same period.
The statistics show both manufacturers are on target to reach emissions targets, says Kerstin Meyer of T&E.
She said of the car industry: “They said the proposed short term target for vans was ‘impossible’, but the industry is well on the way."
