One in five would consider an electric van

One in five commercial vehicle operators would consider buying an electric van, according to insurance retailer Swinton Commercial.
Swinton Commercial surveyed 1,200 online customers about their next purchase, of which 19 per cent said they would consider an electric van to help the environment - but only if the price was right.
Prices of electric vehicles will be slashed from January next year, as they qualify for the ultra-low carbon vehicle grant that was confirmed by the coalition government in July.
The Renault Kangoo Express Z.E will be one of the first all-electric vans in the UK when it is released next year and will be quickly followed by the Ford Transit Connect Electric.
Citroen and Peugeot are said be working together to bring their electric vans to the market in the future also, though the two French firms are yet to confirm any models.
The Renault Kangoo and Ford Transit Connect, from which the electric models are derived, start from £12,200 and £9,995.
