Land Rover launches global initiative

Land Rover and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies [IFRC] have joined forces to launch a new global initiative; Reaching Vulnerable People Around the World.
As part of the tie-up, Land Rover is donating six Defender station wagons to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society to help its disaster relief programme. These vehicles will be used to deliver food, clean water, shelter and medical supplies to the thousands of people affected by the recent floods.
Land Rover has committed to help national Red Cross or Red Crescent Societies implement or improve programmes in fifteen other countries also, with particular focus on two extensive humanitarian programmes in Sierra Leone and China.
Since 2007, Land Rover has donated 60 vehicles, raised over £2.5m and reached nearly 100,000 people, according to managing director Phil Popham, who says he is ‘proud to be working in partnership with the IFRC.’
The Land Rover Defender station wagon – famous for its off-road ability - is priced from £22,495.
