Inchcape is aiming to lower emissions in its fleet by adding a number of electric car and vans.

Inchcape Fleet Solutions will evaluate zero emission cars and vans to provide customers with more information on electric vehicles.

Inchcape has recently added the Peugeot eExpert to the list of vehicles they have tested; alongside Smith Electric Vehicles, which are based on the Ford van range; the Mitsubishi i-MIEV city car; the MINI E; and Tata’s electric vehicles.

The eExpert is based on the Peugeot Expert van and has a top speed of 70mph and has a range of 70 miles from a single charge.

Inchcape aims to help fleets reduce their carbon footprint, something the Government believes is crucial in establishing Britain as a low-carbon economy.

A series of tax measures were brought in on April 6th as an incentive to encourage fleet uptake of electric cars.

This means that all electric cars are exempt from company car tax and van benefit charges for five years as well as Vehicle Excise Duty.
