Ford Transit continues to dominate

The Ford Transit came out on top of its respective LCV segment in August, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
In what was another good month for the van sector, Ford’s iconic Transit van continued to dominate the medium commercial vehicle segment, taking a 30 per cent market share.
The Transit was also the clear leader in overall sales in August, with 1,817 new registrations, and for the year to date, where it has racked up 26,804 registrations sales.
These figures are 325 and 4,842 more than the same period last year.
Nigel Sharp, Managing Director Ford of Britain commented: “With our clearer pricing policy, combined with new heavyweight advertising communications and our best ever vehicle range, Ford is very well positioned."
The commercial vehicle sector was the only one to show growth in August, with an increase of 2.7 per cent on last year to 205,649 sales. SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt believes that the government needs to ‘help sustain growth in the forthcoming spending review.’
The Ford Transit, celebrating 45 years on UK roads, is priced from £17,155.
