Ford lands 50-strong Transit fleet

Ford has supplied OnStream with 50 Transit ECOnetic vans, which will be used by the gas and electricity company’s Smart Meter technicians.
OnStream is a subsidiary of the National Grid and has a Ford fleet of around 2,850 vehicles. The new Transits will be driven by gas and electricity metering technicians, who install the latest metering technology to homes across Britain.
Stephen Gafson, direct sales manager, Ford of Britain, said: “Ford ECOnetic technology provides great benefits for companies looking not only to make fleet cost savings but also to use fuel-saving technology to help meet energy reduction targets."
The Ford Transit ECOnetic emits just 189g/km of CO2 emissions and returns 39.2mpg on a combined cycle.
Ford is planning to further reduce the environmental British-built vehicle with the introduction of an all-electric version in the next few years. Prototypes are currently being tested in the US before production begins.
The Ford Transit ECOnetic is priced from £18,095 though the Transit range starts at £17,155.
