Ford extends Transit chassis cab line-up

Ford has introduced a new more fuel efficient Transit chassis cab, designed especially for motorhome converters.
Available in three difference wheelbases – 3.3m, 3.75m and 3.95m - the Transit Motorhome Chassis benefits from an improved payload and fuel efficiency. It also features a reinforced lightweight ladder frame with a low construction height and open air rails to allow simple fitment of frame extensions.
The well proven 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine is fitted as standard in the chassis cab, and offers between 112 and 137bhp. This is mated to a six speed manual gearbox and is complemented by anti-lock brakes.
Inside the cabin, Ford says the Transit Motorhome Chassis offers passenger-car-like comfort and comes with gadgetry such as satellite navigation, CD player and Bluetooth technology.
“It has been eagerly awaited by some of our manufacturer partners who want to design new stylish and contemporary motorhomes using the proven foundation of the Ford Transit," says Steve Adams, Ford of Europe.
A Ford Transit based camper was recently voted Best Budget-Buy Motorhome and Motorhome of the Year by Practical Motoring Magazine.
