Ford announces more affordable Transit models
Ford has announced new Leader models of the Transit and Transit Connect, which offer private van drivers the market-leading nameplate at an even more affordable price.
These new models come in response to strong demand for Ford commercial vehicles from retail customers. The new Transit Leader is priced under £12,000 while the Transit Connect Leader comes in under £10,000 – ‘White van man has never had value so good’ according to the American company.
The £11,995 Ford Transit Leader is a standard 260 short wheelbase, low roof van in Frozen White fitted with a 2.2-litre TDCi 83bhp engine. Optional extras include cargo stowage rails and Bluetooth technology.
For £9,995, customers get a standard 200 short wheelbase Ford Transit Connect Leader van in Frozen White, Colorado Red or Blazer Blue. This comes with a 1.8-litre TDCi 73bhp powertrain.
2010 marks the 45th year for the Ford Transit in the UK, something that Ford of Britain marketing director Mark Simpson believes makes the Leader models ‘the best possible proposition’ for private van drivers on a budget.
