Citroen has increased LCV sales by 47.58 per cent after 1,340 Nemo, Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay models were sold in April.

The success has increased the marque’s UK market share to nine per cent and pushes total sales in 2010 up by 22.61 per cent.

Despite warnings LCV sales would drop after the scrappage scheme ended, Citroen has focused on producing vans with lower CO2 emissions and better fuel economy.

The Airdream range of engines, offered with Nemo and Berlingo vans among others, and other low-CO2 technology has been a factor in selling over 6,000 LCVs this year, says Citroen.

The manufacturer has also improved equipment levels throughout the range, including satellite navigation as standard on all Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay vans.

Charles Peugeot,Head of Commercial Vehicles and Business Sector comments, “Citroën has enjoyed both a strong April and 2010 YTD sales performance, and has significantly out-performed a fast-rising market.

“This success has been achieved thanks to an outstanding range of products, highly attractive customer offers and consistent results across all of our LCV models."
