Citroen has revised the Euro 4-compliant 1.6-litre HDi engines in the Berlingo, with the emphasis firmly on reducing CO2 emissions and improving fuel economy.

Available in two power variations, 75bhp and 95bhp, the improved 1.6 HDi offers combined fuel cycle improvements of up to 1.7 per cent and CO2 emissions reductions of up to 6g/km.

From October production, the 75bhp version will emit 147g/km of CO2 – 6g/km less than before – and return 49.6mpg on a combined cycle, which represents a 0.9 per cent gain.

The 90bhp variant will return 50.4mpg and emit 149g/km of CO2 on a combined cycle –improvements of 1.7 per cent and 4g/km respectively.

Robert Handyside, Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager, comments: These latest changes, which are being introduced without any cost penalty, will ensure that the Berlingo maintains its position as one of the UK’s best-selling small vans."

The Citroen Berlingo is available now from £11,195. These engine revisions will be implemented from October.
