Boost for electric vans
The 2010 Budget brought some good news for the commercial sector, with a boost for electric vans.
The Chancellor announced that all electric vans will be exempted from the van benefit charge for five years.
In addition, a 100 per cent first-year allowance will be provided for the purchase of electric vans.
The Chancellor hopes that tax changes from 6 April will encourage public and private sector fleets to rapidly increase their uptake of electric and vans.
Several manufacturers are preparing electric vans, including an electric version of the Renault Kangoo and electric version of the Ford Transit Connect.
