AA to use Ford Transit vans

The AA emergency breakdown service has taken delivery of 56 British-built Ford Transit vans to use in its fleet.
Ford’s Southampton plant was tasked with producing the vans for the AA, using production lines that have produced the best-selling vans for 40 years.
Thomas Fischer, Ford’s Southampton plant manager, said: “Southampton plant puts a lot of effort into the quality of the Ford Transit vehicles we build here and we are pleased that this, together Transit’s proven dependability and low whole life cost, has resulted in the AA placing further orders with Ford."
The vans will be now be used as part of an eventual Ford fleet of 246 vans in the AA’s AutoWindshields department for roadside repair and recovery call-outs.
After inspecting the Ford Transit vans, AA Chief Engineer Steve Ives said: “We were keen to inspect the Transits off the line and we were delighted to find them in top condition and ready to be signed off. “
The Ford Transit vans will be taken away and fitted with the necessary AA equipment and livery before being put into use by the ‘fourth emergency service’.
